Former Chairman of Nigerian Breweries Plc and Unilever Plc, Elder Felix Ohiwerei and Dr Doyin Abiola encouraged young Nigerian professionals to be dreamers and be true to themselves so as to attain greatness in life. They were speaking to more than 100 young Nigerian professionals and entrepreneurs at the October edition of the monthly Role Model Forum of the Centre for Values in Leadership CVL, in Victoria Island Lagos.
Elder Ohiwerei shared his experience as a teenager when he dreamt of becoming a priest, a Doctor and the Managing Director of a Multinational company at different times. However he backed his dream with hardwork and focus which earned him his dream position as MD of Nigerian breweries Plc. He also advised the young people to give as much attention they give to their work to their families. On her part, Dr Doyin Abiola told the participants especially the women to be true to themselves in all situations and not be afraid to speak out at all times.
Their presentations at the monthly sessions which follow a tradition of such earlier CVL RMF speakers like Dr. Christopher Kolade, Coca-Cola Nigeria Managing Director Kelvin Balogun, Mr. Leo Stan Ekeh, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, Mrs Bola Adesola MD/CEO of Standard Chartered bank, Prof. Pat Utomi (Founder – CVL) and others who have shown in several presentations that values underpin leadership effectiveness.
The CVL Role Model forum for young professionals is an interactive monthly mentoring activity, in which an individual who has achieved remarkable success in his/her field of endeavor shares his/her life and career experiences that the participants can relate to. The Role model shares how he overcame challenges while upholding the right values and ethics. It is open to all young professionals in Nigeria.
