Standard Chartered bank Managing Director/Chief Executive officer, Mrs Bola Adesola and ABC Transport founder, Mr Frank Nneji implored young Nigerian professionals to be trustworthy if they are to attain greatness in life. They were speaking to more than 100 young Nigerian professionals and entrepreneurs at the September edition of the monthly Role Model Forum of the Centre for Values in Leadership CVL, in Victoria Island Lagos.
Frank Nneji who presented a road map of how he started selling chalkboards over 20 years ago builds several other businesses including the now very popular ABC transport brand with over 700 buses and trucks in his fleet. He further said that the key to the success of the ABC transport business was innovation and integrity which stood the brand out from competitors in the sector. On his part Mrs. Adesola a lawyer turned banker emphasized hard work and tenacity of purpose in her rise to the position of Chief Executive Officer of Standard Charatered bank after working as CEO of kakawa, Executive Director of First Bank a stint at Citibank earlier in her career.
Their presentations at the monthly sessions which follow a tradition of such earlier CVL RMF speakers like Dr Christopher Kolade, Coca-Cola Nigeria Managing Director Kelvin Balogun, Mr Leo Stan Ekeh, Mr. Haresh Aswani, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, Prof Pat Utomi(Founder-CVL) and others who have shown in one presentation after the other that values underpin leadership effectiveness.
Mr Benedict Okhumale, Programme Manager of CVL, in his opening remarks advised the participants to take the issue of punctuality very seriously stating that the Centre for Values in Leadership is resolved to take the lead in exterminating African time in the country.
The CVL Role Model forum for young professionals is an interactive monthly mentoring activity, in which an individual who has achieved remarkable success in his/her field of endeavour shares his/her life experience that the participants can relate to. The Role Model shares how he overcame challenges while upholding the right values and ethics. It is open to all young professionals in Nigeria.
