The Founder/CEO, Pat Utomi and the entire staff of CVL (Center for Values in Leadership) wish to express our profound appreciation to you for the cash and kind donations of relief materials to the CVL FVSI (Flood Victims Support Initiative). We commend your timely response to support this cause and wish to inform you that your donations have been put to good use by the CVL team visits and disbursement of relief materials to flood victims in Delta, Anambra, Bayelsa and Adamawa States. As was shown in the news, which we confirmed during our visits, whole towns were submerged and many of them couldn’t eat for days. As expected in such situations as this, the communities are now prone to various health threats and a possible epidemic outbreak as mosquitoes, snakes and other dangerous animals have taken over most of the affected areas.
The CVL intervention is structured to take place in 3 stages.
1. Stage 1: Temporary shelter and provisions in the tents
2. Health mission
3. Post Flood housing
Under stage 1, we have carried out visits to the temporary camps provided for the victims by the government. We presented them with clothing, food items, mattresses and so many other consumables that we sourced from donations of good spirited Nigerians. We have received relief materials and cash donations from more than 200 individuals and groups across Nigeria. We are still receiving relief materials and money for this cause even though the affected people have gone back to the remains of their homes. We are still carrying on with stage 1 since it’s an on-going thing.
We have also commenced with the 2nd and 3rd stages of this cause. People have started donating medications and we are partnering with a lot of organizations and individuals in the medical field. We are also partnering with Diamond Bank and other NGOs like the So-Said Charity Home etc. to ensure a hitch free and successful mission.
While thanking you for your efforts we must not fail to mention that there is still a lot more to be done for the affected people. So we urge that you continue supporting the cause by spreading the word to your friends, relatives, church members etc.
God bless you.
