CVL Role Model Forum(RMF)

The problem of bad leadership is a serious problem affecting all aspects of the Nigerian society-Governance, private/corporate sectors, public sectors, NGOs and civil societies, religious organizations, families, and even individuals businesses. Furthermore, there is this “get-rich-quick” syndrome, which has eaten dip into the fabrics of our society. In fact many workers including Government workers, private, and public employees seek many illegal ways to “fill their pockets,” to the detriment of the institutions which they represent. It is no longer a secret that many people are struggling to get a share of the “national cake” using any available means including corruption, bribing, inflating the prices of goods, selling organizational assets/resources, and extorting money from both the rich and the less privileged. The consequence of bad leadership in our society is increased corruption, under development, poverty, lack of accountability and transparency, food insecurity and hunger, sickness, youth unemployment, and insecurity.

To address this problem of bad leadership in our society, there is urgent need for values transmission and reorientation, especially of our future leaders, focusing their mind-set to core value-driven ethics such as, hardworking, dedication, sincerity and integrity, selflessness, commitment to duty, and self-satisfaction. The CVL (Centre for Values in Leadership) in its quest to contribute to addressing the leadership problem in our society has designed a unique programme called the ‘ROLE MODEL FORUM’.

The “ROLE MODEL FORUM”, is a CVL interactive monthly programme where an individual who has achieved remarkable success in his/her field of endeavour shares his/her life experience(s) that the participants can relate to.

It is a programme organized by CVL for undergraduate, young professionals and Managers. The goal of this RMF programme is to inculcate the values of good leadership into our youths, through inspiration, mentoring, and leadership skills development. The RMF programme attracts more than 100 professionals every month to the CVL Centre.

Role Model Forum is a mentoring program where the Role Model shares how he overcame challenges while upholding the right values and ethics. The participants will then ask questions and share similar personal experiences and lessons learnt. The goal of this programme is to inspire young people to become achievers and leaders in their various organizations. It provides mentorship in the areas of entrepreneurship, leadership, venturing, workplace ethics and management.

There are two categories of the CVL RMF: RMF for professionals and RMF for Undergraduates. The version of the professionals holds every 3rd Saturday of the month at the CVL Building whereas that of undergraduates is rotated around the university campuses in Nigeria.

It is one of our semi-formal knowledge acquisition activities.
