CVL Leadership Development Centre

Training to Lead and Win

They also haveprogrammes for senior executives/CEOs.

The Pedagogy of the Determined

The pedagogy of the determined is about turning the learner from a passive sponge to an activist sharer, with a vision of himself, and his world, in which there is a mutually benefiting interdependence and a duty to move creation towards its perfection. It compels a view of man that is progressive, ethical, just and entrepreneurial.

Overview

The CVL has designed and is implementing select programmes of human capital development based on the Pat Utomi idea of the pedagogy of the determined and the CVL tripod with a clear goal of accelerating the formation of high performance leaders to help overcome the many problems confronting the business enterprise, public organizations and social enterprise initiatives of Non-governmental development agencies.

Programme structure and Approach

  • A typical CVL programme will be 35% class based with tag team facilitators, one, a concept lead presenter, the other an experience sharer.
  • There will be use of case studies but in a very limited way.
  • The nexus of concept and praxis will be very Action plan oriented.
  • Readings from recommended lists of books and a book club chat room for participants will make up about another 25% of the learning experience.
  • Peer review and action plans support network will be another 20% of the learning plan.
  • Community service action and Griot-style storytelling visioning will make up 10%.
  • Assessment centre mentoring will be a final 10% of the learning plan.
